Safe – this means we looked for evidence that people were protected from abuse and avoidable harm. At our last assessment we rated this key question requires improvement. At this inspection the rating has changed to good.This meant people were safe and protected from avoidable harm.

Involving people to manage risks
The service worked with people to understand and manage risks by thinking holistically. They provided care to meet people’s needs that was safe, supportive and enabled people to do the things that mattered to them.People were supported to access various activities which were risk assessed. We observed staff working safely with people. Staff had access to new care and risk assessment plans which were up to date. Staff told us how they supported people if they became distressed. Staff knew people well.
Safe environments
At our previous assessment, we identified some recording shortfalls in relation to medicines management. The service had since implemented new quality assurance audits. These were effective at ensuring medicines and treatments were safe and met people’s needs, capacities and preferences. Some people were prescribed ‘as required’ medicines. Guidance was in place to help staff administer the medicines safely. Staff felt confident in medicine administration and confirmed they were aware of how to report any shortfalls. Relatives had no concerns relating to medicines management in the service.
