Our view of the service

The Chiltern Medical Clinic Goring on Thames is managed by Medical Skin Clinics Ltd. The service is a private clinic specialising in plastic surgery located in Goring on Thames, Berkshire. The site includes, a reception, 2 waiting areas, a private consultation room and 3 treatment rooms.

The service is registered to provide the regulated activities: Surgical procedures, Diagnostic and screening procedures and Treatment of disease, disorder or injury.

The offsite assessment reviewed 5 quality statements in the well led domain, including: shared direction and culture; capable, compassionate and inclusive leaders; freedom to speak up; governance, management and sustainability; and learning, improvement and innovation.

We found a breaches of the legal regulations in relation to governance. We found risks and concerns raised during governance meetings were not sufficiently documented to provide assurances that issues were appropriately mitigated. Where issues and concerns were found, there was no evidence of follow up to ensure completion.

However, the service demonstrated there was learning and improvement since the previous inspection, for example, all staff now received basic life support training in accordance with guidance. The service now assessed patient outcomes and ensured all staff, not solely medical staff completed a disclosure and barring service.
