This meant people were supported and treated with dignity and respect; and involved as partners in their care. Independence, choice and control

The provider promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing. Relatives confirmed the views and wishes of their family member were identified in their care plan. Care plans identified which aspects of care people required support from the care worker with and where they could be independent.

A relative commented, “The care worker is good at supporting [family member] to do things and be as independent as possible. [My family member] likes doing simple puzzles and picture matching and the care worker understands to give lots of praise, they find stimulating activities [family member] enjoys and does not make it easy for [family member] so is pushed a little.”
