Our view of the service

Urgent and Emergency Care Services at the New Royal Liverpool University Hospital are provided by Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The trust was created on 1 October 2019 following a process of acquisition, in which Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust acquired Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen Hospital NHS Trust. Royal Liverpool Hospital was last partially inspected (safe, responsive and well-led) in September 2023, but not rated. In October 2022 the New Royal University Hospital moved into a purpose-built hospital adjacent to the site of the old one. The new building has 640 single patient rooms with ensuite facilities and is the largest single room hospital in Europe.
