Equity in access
Staff were clear about the importance of providing emotional support to patients when delivering care.
The practice supported more vulnerable members of society, for example, children with a learning disability.
Staff had carried out a disability access audit, but this was not followed up with an action plan to improve access for patients.
Reading aids were not available to support patients who had impaired vision. The practice did not have a hearing induction loop to support patients who had a hearing impairment.
The practice was wheelchair accessible with step-free access, ground floor surgery and a wheelchair accessible sized toilet. Improvement could be made to the toilet to make it fully accessible by adding equipment to provide extra support and stability for individuals with reduced mobility or balance.
The practice displayed its opening hours and provided information on their front door and in reception.
The practice provided a telephone number for patients needing emergency orthodontic treatment during the working day and when the practice was not open.
At the time of our inspection, patients who needed an urgent appointment were offered one in a timely manner.
