Our current view of the service

The Old Vicarage Care Home is registered to provide personal care and support to up to 41 people, some of whom may be living with dementia. At the time of the inspection, the service was supporting 27 people.
The inspection took place between 12 March and 19 March 2025. We visited the service on 15 March 2025. This inspection was prompted by concerns about the safety of people’s care and staffing. Following this inspection, we were assured there was enough staff to support people safely and the provider had processes in place to protect people from avoidable harm.
We observed care was delivered in ways that were person-centred and promoted people’s dignity, privacy and human rights. Care staff treated people with kindness and respect.
People's experience of the service

People told us they felt safe at The Old Vicarage Care Home. Comments included, “The staff help me with everything to stay safe” and “It’s as safe as houses here.”
People’s views and preferences were communicated and acted upon.
We were provided examples of when the service had responded to and acted on feedback relating to choice of food and time of meals, and how people received support. One person told us, “I get to be independent here.” Another person commented, “Press your bell and they come as quick as you can expect.”
Relatives praised the kind and compassionate approach of care staff. One relative fed back, “We find the carers to be particularly kind and gentle. They do their best to humour and care for our loved one.” Another stated, “Our relative is so beautifully cared for by so many lovely people, and we always feel so welcome when we visit.
Thank you, everyone, for all that you contribute to making this a true ‘“home from home’.”
