During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 10 April 2025.

We found the practice had met regulations.

Infection control procedures in place were effective.

The practice had effective systems to identify and manage risks.

Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.

Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance.

Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our inspection, could access care, support and treatment when required.

The practice is in Leek, Staffordshire and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces available, including dedicated parking for disabled people, near the practice.

The practice had 4 treatment rooms.At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 16 staff, of which there were 5 dentists, 5 qualified dental nurses, 2 trainee dental nurses, 2 receptionists, a practice manager and an administrator. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 2 dentists, 2 qualified dental nurses, 1 trainee dental nurse, 1 receptionist, the practice manager and the administrator.

During a routine inspection

People we spoke with who used the service told us they were fully involved in the treatment they received and knew why it was needed. People told us, "The dentist explains what she is going to do" and "I always sign for any work that needs to be carried out".

People we spoke with told us that the staff were always polite and treated them respectfully. Staff we spoke with were able to explain the actions they would take to reassure people who were nervous and how they ensured that children visiting the dentist felt at ease.

We saw that the service had facilities in place to undertake the decontamination and sterilisation of instruments. Staff we spoke with explained the processes that they need to follow to ensure that equipment is sterilised correctly. People we spoke with told us that the dental practice was always kept clean.

Staff we spoke with told us that they felt supported by their manager with training and development through their induction and ongoing appraisals.

The provider had effective systems in place to undertake audits to ensure that people who used the service received the correct standard of care.
