Our view of the service
We carried out this announced on-site assessment on the 4 March 2025.
We found the practice had not met regulations.
The practice’s systems to identify and manage risks were not always working effectively. This included oversight of the medical emergency kit, and some environmental checks and risk assessments.
Although recruitment procedures reflected current legislation, there was no recruitment policy in place for staff to follow.
There was no process to enable the registered person to amend and update policies, to ensure they reflected current evidence-based guidance and legislation.
Infection control procedures in place were effective.
Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance.
Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required.
The practice is in Wrekenton and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.
The practice had 2 treatment rooms. The total number of staff was 6. During the assessment we spoke with 2 dentists, 3 dental nurses, and the practice manager. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our assessment.
The provider was not complying with 1 regulation. Full details of the regulation the provider was not meeting are within the assessment findings below.
We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment
