During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this announced on-site assessment on 26 March 2025.

We found the practice had met regulations.

Infection control procedures in place were effective.

The practice had some systems to identify and manage risks.

Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.

Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance.

Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required.

The practice is in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces available, including dedicated parking for disabled people, near the practice.

The practice had 2 treatment rooms. At the time of our assessment, there was a total of 6 staff, of which there were 2 dentists, 3 dental nurses and the practice manager. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our assessment, including 2 dentists, 1 dental nurse and the practice manager.

During a routine inspection

People told us they were treated with respect and dignity when they attended Werrington Dental Practice. One person said, 'They are polite and professional, but also very friendly'.

People using the service said they were fully involved in decisions about their care, and the dentist always explained any treatment needs. They told us they felt comfortable to ask questions about the treatments available and things were explained clearly to them. A relative who accompanied a person during treatment said, 'They always explain the treatment and the options available. It's very good'.

We saw there were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. People we spoke with said everything always looked clean and they were satisfied with the standards of cleanliness. We saw there were good standards of hygiene and infection control practices in place.

We saw that there was a sufficient number of appropriately skilled and knowledgeable staff available to meet peoples needs.

We found that records were kept up to date, were accurate and secure.
