During an assessment under our new approach
Beau House is a care home registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to accommodate a maximum of 5 people. This was the first assessment since new registration. We carried out our on-site assessment activity on 20 August, 21 August and 30 August 2024. Off site assessment activity concluded on 13 September 2024.
Medicines were not always managed in a way that supported best practice. However, we found no evidence people had been harmed, and the provider took immediate action after our feedback. In other areas of support, we found people were supported to have the maximum possible choice, control and be independent and they had control over their own lives, and people were supported by staff to pursue their interests. Staff enabled people to access health and social care support in the community. Staff promoted equality and diversity in their support for people. They understood people’s cultural needs and provided culturally appropriate care. Staff understood how to protect people from poor care and abuse and worked with other agencies to do so. Systems for audit, quality assurance and questioning of practice were not always operated effectively by the provider. However, we recognised that shortly before our assessment, the provider had made several key appointments into leadership positions, and a whole-service review of governance had already started.
