Equity in access
Staff had carried out a disability access audit and had formulated an action plan to continually improve access for patients.
Staff described the reasonable adjustments they had made to ensure the practice was accessible. Where patients needed to visit with a carer or relative, staff confirmed with patients that they were happy to have their treatment details discussed in their presence. Relatives and carers supporting patients were made to feel welcome and when appropriate, included in discussions about the care of the patient.
Staff were clear about the importance of providing emotional support to patients when delivering care.
The practice displayed its opening hours and provided information on their website.
The frequency of appointments was agreed between the dentist and the patient, giving due regard to healing time following any extractions and initial surgery. Patients had access to their clinician via a private messaging service for the duration of their treatment and recovery period.
At the time of our assessment, patients who needed an urgent appointment were offered one in a timely manner. Patients had access to their clinician throughout their treatment and recovery period.
