During an assessment of Patient transport services
We assessed 32 quality statements.
We found breaches of regulation regarding good governance.
Overall, we found areas of good practice. Incidents were investigated and improvements made to the service. People were safeguarded from abuse and improper treatment. Vehicles and equipment were well maintained and safe. People’s needs were assessed and staff were focused on providing person-centred care. Staff worked with partners to support people using the service. There was an open culture where staff had confidence in leaders and felt able to raise concerns.
However, recruitment checks were not fully recorded. Patient records were not always complete. Cleaning equipment was not always stored correctly to prevent the spread of infection. Substances hazardous to health were not always stored in line with guidelines.
We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.
