During an assessment under our new approach
This is the first assessment for this service since it registered on 31 March 2022. We reviewed all 34 quality statements. Date of assessment 14 June 2024 to 2 July 2024. We visited the office on 27 June 2024.
People had their medicines as prescribed, and staff supported them safely. However, some medicines needed ‘as required’ did not have detailed guidance for staff to be sure how to administer this medicine. Risks to people’s safety had been assessed and guidance was in place. However, for some people we found guidance had not been updated in a timely way. The service was moving to an electronic care plan and medicines system, so all records were being reviewed during our assessment.
Staff had been recruited safely and all received an induction when starting their jobs. This included training, shadowing more experienced staff and 1-1 supervisions. Staff told us they felt their induction prepared them for their roles. Staff felt supported by the management and able to raise any concerns with the registered manager.
The provider had governance systems to help them monitor the quality and safety of the service. In addition to audits the registered manager carried out spot checks on staff to make sure they were working safely. During spot checks the registered manager also asked people for their feedback about the service and if any changes needed to be made. There was a complaints policy and all complaints had been investigated and resolved.
