Our view of the service

We carried out an onsite assessment of Queen Elizabeth Care Centre on 18 December 2024. The service is a residential care home providing personal and nursing care to up to 74

people in one adapted building. The service provides support to people with various physical and mental health needs, this included people living with dementia. At the time of our assessment there were 69 people living at Queen Elizabeth Care Centre. We received positive feedback regarding the improvements made to the support people received and the management of the service. Risks to people’s safety and wellbeing were managed well and safeguarding processes were embedded into practice. Safe medicines processes were followed and where additional information was required the registered manager ensured this was addressed. Care plans and risk assessments contained good detail on the whole although additional information was required in relation to the care people wished to receive at the end of their life. Systems relating to the Mental Capacity Act 2005 had improved although would benefit from additional detail in some areas. The registered manager assured us they had plans to develop this further. Staff felt supported in their roles and received the training they required. There was a positive culture and the registered manager had built good relationships with both health and social care professionals. Audits were completed on a monthly basis and action taken where shortfalls were identified. The provider was previously in breach of the legal regulations in relation to safe care and treatment, person centred care, consent and good governance. Improvements were found at this assessment and the provider was no longer in breach of these regulations.
